Daylight: What makes the difference?

The project goals were:

  • To provide a fuller and better understanding of the distinctive defining characteristics and benefits of daylight when compared to those of artificial light
  • To identify the crucial ‘missing link(s)’ that cause the perception of daylight-mimicking artificial light (given that all aspects can technically be mimicked) to not generally provide the generally superior subjective perception associated with natural light
  • To identify and align inconsistent relevant terminology in this cross-disciplinary topic
  • To identify further research that may be necessary for the full realization of the above goals
