The Daylight Academy’s “A room with a view” project, has published a new booklet documenting its workshop in the city of Trondheim, Norway. Titled “View Quality Assessment: A Pilot Study of Field Methods”, the publication presents the findings from a workshop evaluating a series of views in a variety of settings by a group of daylighting experts. Check it out in digital form here.
Containing a wide array of photographs, sketches and statistics, the 25-page booklet presents quantitative and qualitative evaluations of six locations across the city of Trondheim, where a Daylight Academy supported workshop took place in June 2022. A forthcoming research paper is set to contain further locations, as well as relevant cognitive tests and academic discourse about the topic.
The “A room with a view” project is led by Prof. Barbara Szybinska Matusiak (Faculty of Architecture and Design, NTNU, Norway). It explores the role windows play in complementing interior spaces and making them as functional, attractive and relaxing as they can be.
