Interdisciplinary Summer School “Measuring Light and Illumination” (28 July – 3 August 2024)

Interdisciplinary Summer School: Measuring Light and Illumination
Chexbres (CH), 28 July – 3 August 2024

Description

Exposure to light has major effects on human physiology and behaviour. As laboratory studies are designed to understand which mechanisms underlie the physiological effects of light, we also have an intuitive understanding – and appreciation – of light. Light, and in particular daylight, is the subject of interdisciplinary research, which was explored at this summer school.

Topics included:

  • Measurement of light, spectrum and colour using a variety of cutting-edge techniques
  • Quantification of human responses to light, including on visual (colour vision) and non-visual physiology (neuroendocrine and circadian physiology, sleep)

The residential summer school combined lectures, practical workshops, an excursion and a student-led research project. This was the 2nd edition of the interdisciplinary summer school. For information and results relating to the first edition, feel free to read our conference proceedings here.
